El Petit Format (“In Small Format”) is a theatre event that takes place in Olot at the end of November. The festival’s programme is based on a selection of small-format theatre performances that aim to create close ties between the artist and audience.
In doing so, it offers an alternative to conventional theatre productions that are often distanced from the public.
This theatrical event boasts an idiosyncrasy - in that all the performances take place in unconventional spaces, such as a patisserie, church or bar. In addition, prices are affordable, with tickets costing from €3-10.
The festival also boasts a strong commitment to education and youth culture. To this effect, El Petit Format seeks to promote interest in the performing arts by staging some of its performances in small spaces, which even include local secondary-school classrooms. Aside from the festival itself, which takes place over four days, the initiative also backs productions from local theatre groups.
This event is an initiative launched by the non-profit group Una Càpsula de Teatre, and also receives backing from Olot Cultura. A very unique initiative for a very special city!
The MOT is a literary festival that takes place each year in the month of April and which is organised by two city councils: those of Olot and Girona.
