If you’re among those who like to explore a city by yourself and at your own place, Olot’s Tourist Information Centre offers a unique solution for learning about the city’s nativity scene tradition in your own way. We provide you with a self-guided pack full of games and activities that will allow your family to find nativity-scene figures that are hidden around the city.
Your invisible guides for this treasure hunt are the characters from Olot’s Faràndula. And what exactly is this Faràndula? It’s the family of traditional characters that make their appearance during festivities and events: the processional giants, “big-heads” (including Olot’s most iconic “big-head”, El Cap de Lligamosques) and hobby horses. It’s usually very difficult to see these characters together, as they only come out as a troupe once a year, during the Festes del Tura.
These figures are said to be the ones who know most about the city. For this reason, they’ll be the ones to accompany you on this guided tour - which is only available from 21 December to 10 January - to help you hunt for the nativity-scene figures and learn about their history.
The pack costs €5 to hire. But watching how much the kids will enjoy it is priceless.
It is a tourist experience that includes three guided tours: the church of Sant Esteve, the Tura sanctuary and the Museum of the Saints and also offers the possibility of booking accommodation and catering
