Fira Orígens (the Origins Fair , an agrifood fair that takes place in Olot over the last-but-one weekend in November, is a unique opportunity for gastro lovers to discover the great diversity and quality of Catalan produce. The fair, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2022, is an initiative aiming to promote local production in Catalonia. The event is one of the essential highlights of Catalonia’s annual programme of trade fairs.
The fair features an array of carefully selected products and producers - some of which are organic - who sell directly to the public. The event strives to ensure that all the agrifood sectors are represented, guaranteeing that visitors will enjoy diversity and quality. In addition, the Origens Fair also invites producers from other regions, in order to bring variety and a wealth of different products to the event.
The tenth edition of “Origens: the Agrifood Fair of Quality Products from Catalonia”, featured some sixty producers and vendors and welcomed 6,500 visitors, while also seeing 7,000 more tasting vouchers being sold. During the event, visitors can enjoy live cooking demonstrations from well-known chefs, as well as being able to taste and purchase products directly from the producers.
In 2022, the event saw the addition of the National Catalan Butifarra Sausage Contest, organised by the Confraria del Gras i el Magre and the Oficis de la Carn Foundation. This new addition attracted an array of pork butchers, who competed to show who made the best butifarra in the eyes of the jury. During the fair, there is also a prize for the categories of “Best Product” and “Best Stand”.
