CHAPELS ROUTE THROUGH THE BIANYA VALLEY

A brief outing through the beautiful spots and surroundings of the Bianya Valley which can be done by taxi and is suitable for people with all levels of physical resistance given that we can adapt the route to access all points of interest by vehicle.

SANT MIQUEL DEL MONT

We begin at the highest point which gives us spectacular 360º panoramic views of the entire Alta Garrotxa.

We can access the area by taxi to the foot of the hill where we find the Sant Miquel del Mont Church at a height of 793 metres. If we walk another 50 metres we will be next to the chapel and can enjoy some unforgettable views and take some fantastic photos. This Romanesque church is in very good condition and dates back to the 12th century.

SANT ANDREU DE SOCARRATS CHURCH

We continue the route to ensure very easy access to the visit. Close to Llocalou, a minute away by taxi on the N-260 road we arrive at the Sant Andreu de Socarrats Church. Built in the 12th century at a height of 367 metres in a Romanesque style. It is located in a semi-wooded area which has just a few hours of daylight in the winter due to its location.

SANT MARTÍ DE CAPSEC

We go up from Llocalou along a good narrow path that climbs over 3.5 kilometres to reach the Sant Martí de Capsec Parish Church: built in a Romanesque style in the 12th century, the church is located in the mountain range that separates Vall del Bac at a height of 445 metres.

SANTA MARGARIDA DE BIANYA

We return to the N-260 to reach Hostal Nou de Bianya and break off to take a narrow road, in three minutes we reach an open and clean spot at the foot of the Sant Miguel del Mont  mountain range where we find the Santa Margarida de Bianya Church.

Included in the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia, it was built in the 12th century with the exception of a first apse chapel dating back to the 10th century. The entrance door is on the west side and the former access is to the south.

SANT MARTÍ DEL CLOT

We continue the route along the N-260 towards Camprodón. It has very good access by taxi, and we reach the spot after 4.7 kilometres where we find the Sant Martí del Clot Chapel. Built in Romanesque style in the 12th century and has been reconstructed and modified over time after suffering from earthquakes in the 15th century and fires in the 1936 war. Formerly called Sant Martí de Tornedissa.
